Fight For Air Climb – HSBC

Six members of Union Fire Company participated in the American Lung Association sponsored “Fight for Air Climb” - February 12, 2011 at HSBC Center in Buffalo.

Chief and Team Captain Jeff Warner led the contigent in an effort to raise funds for the American Lung Association and Lung Cancer Research, the force would exceed their goal of raising 100.00 dollars, by achieving the $200.00 mark.

Firefighters in full turn out gear would make the climb of 38-floors inside the HSBC Center in under 10-minutes, for a worthy cause. Besides Chief Warner, Union Firefighters Aaron Cassick, & Taz Mack, Assistant Chief Joe Kazmierski, Captain Rich Miller, and Lieutenant John Monson, would team up with members of Reserve Fire Company of West Seneca for the climb. Numerous other firefighters from the area also partook in the challenge.

Participation supports research, advocacy and education to study the effects of asthma, lung cancer and other lung diseases that disproportionately affect firefighters. A registration fee is required for each participant, plus an additional $100 minimum fundraising requirement towards a Team’s overall goal.  Money raised supports the American Lung Association in New York in its mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.
