Candle Ignites Lamp Shade, Resident Extinguishes Fire

Alerted to the report of a fire in the living room of a Meadow Drive residence, Union Firefighters discovered that a candle positioned too close to combustible materials had ignited a lamp shade. The fire had been extinguished by the resident prior to arrival of units on scene, with fire damage being limited to an immediate area where the candle was located, smoke from the burning lamp shade was noticeable throughout the residence.
